Barratt's Chapel in Frederica, Delaware

Barratt's Chapel was built in 1780, on land donated by Philip Barratt, a prominent political figure in Kent County, Delaware. Barratt, who had recently become a Methodist, wanted to build a center for the growing Methodist movement in Delaware.

Old Christ Church in Laurel, Delaware

Constructed in 1772, this historic place of worship is one of the few remaining unaltered wooden structures of its age and type in the United States. Located beside Chipman’s Pond approximately two miles east of Laurel, the church has paneled walls, a barrel-vaulted ceiling, and wood box pews that are evocative of pre-Revolutionary days, when meeting places such as this were the community centers of rural colonial America. Guided tours are offered on a scheduled basis. Please call for hours of operation.

Trinity Episcopal "Old Swedes" Church in Swedesboro, New Jersey

Trinity Episcopal "Old Swedes" Church was founded by Swedish Lutheran settlers who originally worshiped in a log cabin on the site in 1703. In 1789, the congregation affiliated with the Episcopal Church and is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. The current church building dates to 1784, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Fairfield Presbyterian Church in Cumberland County, New Jersey

Briefly congregationalist before becoming presbyterian. The previous meetinghouse, "The Old Stone Church", is on the National Register of Historic Places. Second-oldest presbyterian congregation in the United States; briefly congregationalist before adopting presbyterian church government.

Third Haven Meeting House in Talbot County, Maryland

In the year 1682, three acres of land were purchased from John Edmondson, and the erection of this Meetinghouse was begun. Two years were consumed in its construction, as the timbers had to be hewn with a broadax and finished with such tools as were used in that day. Among the builders was William Southeby, said to be the first native American to write against slavery.
