It was September 1777 when Cooch’s Bridge played an important role in the American Revolution. During the conflict, General George Washington led American colonists in a clash against British troops as they moved toward Philadelphia. In the end, the Americans retreated, but the battle slowed the British way down. It was a huge lesson for the fledgling Continental Army.
