On Air Now Right Song at the Right Time Midnight - 6:00am
Now Playing Raise A Hallelujah Bethel Music

September 8, 2022

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. (Psalm 62:5-7) ESV

Are you disappointed because someone who promised you something or from whom you expected something has not come through? Placing expectations on people sets us up for disappointment. For example. Often we place unreasonable expectations upon our children, trying to live vicariously through them. We expect them to make our hopes and dreams come true. We do not have the right to do this!!

Too many people walk around depressed and angry due to unmet expectations. Perhaps you feel that you have been overlooked at work. You were expecting that promotion and felt you had worked hard for it. Yet, someone else received the glory. Psalm 62 says, “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken (v. 2). We cannot be disappointed when our expectation is in God. If we trust Him, we will know He is in control of whatever happens in our life.

Moreover, nobody can keep the door closed if God wants to open it for us. He has a plan and a purpose for our lives. The problem is that we often have a different method and expect God to bless our plan. We must seek Him to find His plan for our lives and walk in it.

Trust and obedience go hand and hand. Remember the words of the old Hymn Trust and Obey: “But we never can prove the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay; for the favor, He shows, and the joy he bestows, are for them who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there is no other way to happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”

Friends, the bottom line is that we will only be happy when our expectation is in the Lord. Would you pray with me?

Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You today and thank You for Your faithfulness towards me. Please forgive me that I often place my expectations on people and things rather than on You. I realize that this is why I so often face disappointment. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Encouraging Words: God isn’t asking us to figure it out. He is asking that we trust that He already has.

God Bless you and have a Blessed Day, Friends <><
