And he took up the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the water, saying, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” And when he had struck the water, the water was parted to the one side and to the other, and Elisha went over. (1 Kings 2:13-14) ESV.

The Jordan River is not just a stream. It is a fast-flowing, deep river. You cannot simply wade across it. Elisha stood by the bank of the Jordan River and – “Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the water, saying, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” And when he had struck the water, the water was parted to the one side and to the other, and Elisha went over” (v. 14).

Where is the Lord God of Elijah? Maybe you are asking this same question today. Where is He: Where is the Lord? Where are the miracles, the signs, and the wonders? The Lord God of Elijah was waiting for Elisha to call upon Him, and when he called, God answered by parting the Jordan River. In the same way, God is waiting for modern-day Elishas’ to call upon Him.

James 4:2 (ESV) says, “You do not have, because you do not ask.” I have learned this the hard way. If you don’t ask, you don’t receive. What is the difference between Elisha and us? Nothing, we are all human beings. We have blood through our veins; Elisha had blood through his veins. So what makes the difference? The difference is quite simple: forty Prophets said to Elisha, “Leave the man of God.” Elisha replied, “I will not leave him.” Until I receive his mantle, I am going to pursue him.

Friends, some of us have given up. If we ask once and don’t receive, we give up. The only difference between Elisha and us is that we haven’t asked God for anything in Faith. Hebrews 11:1 (ESV) says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Ask God for something in Faith today. Would you pray with me?

Dear Heavenly Father, I am standing by my own Jordan River. Forgive me that I have been asking, Where is God,” when all the time You are right here. Today I come before You, and I ask You in Faith to ______ Lord, I believe You will answer me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God Bless you, and may your day be Blessed, Friends <><

Encouraging Words: Faith doesn’t remove our pain; it gets us through the pain. Trusting God doesn’t diminish or vanquish our anguish; trusting God enables us to endure it <><
