He Moved Into the Neighborhood

There’s a story told by Paul Harvey called “The Man and the Birds.”

It’s about a kind, honest guy who couldn’t quite believe that God would come to earth as a man. One snowy Christmas Eve, while his family was at church, a flock of birds got caught in the storm and began crashing against his window. They were desperate for warmth and safety.

The man tried everything to lead them into his barn. He turned on a light. He made a trail of breadcrumbs. He waved his arms but they just fluttered away in fear. Finally, he realized, “If only I could become one of them. Then they would understand that I’m trying to save them.”

At that moment, the church bells began to ring. O Come, All Ye Faithful played as he fell to his knees in the snow. Now he understood why Jesus came. God became one of us, so that we could know His love, and follow Him home.

"The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood."

                   ~ John 1:4, The Message

That’s the message The Bridge shares every day. The message is in the music we play, and in our conversations with listeners. It’s the message that changes everything: God came near.

And your generous donation makes it possible to share the message.

When you support The Bridge, you do more than fund a small local radio ministry. You help people who feel far from God hear the message on-air and find their way back to His love.

  • You provide daily encouragement in homes for little ones to learn about Jesus.
  • You invest in biblical content that helps people strengthen their faith.
  • You make The Bridge a safe place for families to grow closer to Christ together.
  • You help bring hope to faith seekers through podcasts, streams, and social media.
  • And you secure a legacy of faith for future generations.

The purpose behind everything we do is to help people see and hear the heart of God in a language they understand.

It’s why we focus on lives right here in our region. And why, in the year ahead, we’ll lean even deeper into God’s design for us to be Created for Community.

As the year ends, would you pray about a special year-end gift to The Bridge?

Your financial support helps us finish strong. More importantly, your donation helps shine the light even brighter for those searching for hope in our community.

Together, we can make sure no one stands alone in the storm.
