Now Playing Remind Me Who I Am Jason Gray

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:23-27) ESV

Our relationship with God sometimes, in and of itself, causes separation. It means that sometimes when we get to know the Lord, we may end up in a separation situation. For instance, that’s what happened to Abraham. He had to leave his home and travel to another destination. Abraham had to walk by faith, trusting God to fulfill His promise. When we come to know the Lord as our personal Lord and Savior and walk by faith, it can cause us to be in a situation where we experience separation.

For instance, God may call us as a missionary to a foreign country. He might tell us to resign our jobs and attend Bible College. The Holy Spirit might convict us of an inappropriate relationship that we have to put an end to. Following Jesus requires sacrifice, taking up our Cross, and following Him. It involves denying ourselves. Sometimes the separation occurs because we are no fun anymore. It can be that at work, we have to be the one who walks away from the raunchy conversation. It may mean we cannot join the guys from work down at the pub for the all-nighter. Refusing (or saying no) to these things involves trusting God. We have to be prepared to trust Him no matter what.

Friends, we need to know God; we need to be sure that we believe that He knows what is best for us. People might tell you that you are crazy – who gives up everything to go off into the unknown to serve God. You are in good company, Abraham did, and because of his faith and trust in God, he has been known for all time, as a friend of God. Would you pray with me?

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being the only One I can trust. No matter what happens, You will never leave me nor forsake me. Please help me to be obedient to Your Voice as You direct me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Encouraging Words from A.W. Tozer: Faith is not merely a journey for the feet, but it is a journey for the heart.

God Bless you and have a Blessed Day, Friends <><
