Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) ESV

Proverbs 3:5-6 will be the critical Scripture passage for this months’ Devotional Thoughts. What does it mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart? Do you think there is a link between trusting God with all your heart and loving Him with all your heart? Surely we cannot trust someone if we do not love them, and we cannot love them if we do not trust them.

Likewise, we cannot love and trust someone we do not know. Knowledge is the key that unlocks the door to faith and love. So before I ask you if you trust God with all your heart, do you know Him? I am not talking about a superficial level of knowledge.

Many people know (have a head knowledge) about God. They even believe that there is “a higher being.” They believe in “the man upstairs.” We cannot know God if we do not know His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus said in (John 14:6-7) ESV, “Jesus said to him (Thomas and to us), “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” If knowledge is the key that unlocks the door to faith and love, then Jesus is the door through which we must pass to know the Father. As Jesus said, if you know Him, then you know the Father.

Friends, where do you stand with Jesus? Is He your Lord and Savior? – can you call God your Father because you know His Son, Jesus Christ? This is the basis from which we launch our journey of discovery into what it means to trust God with all your heart. Would you pray with me?

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I am Your child and know You because I know Jesus Christ Your Son. I Pray that You will teach me through Your Holy Spirit what it means to trust You with all my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
