Now Playing Come As You Are Crowder

May 20, 2022

On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:22-23) ESV
This months’ Devotional Thoughts will concentrate on the attributes of a life living in obedience to Christ. Todays’ attribute is: Turning from our sins.
Before the Lord saved you, what did you do? As you think about that question, may I share what one person told me he did before he was saved? These were his words as best as I can recall them:
Before I was saved, I spent a lot of time hanging around in bars (pubs). The people there used to say that words are cheap, but money buys the whiskey. I asked him what that meant? He explained it this way: The person sitting next to you in the bar would keep telling you that he would buy you a drink but never does. His intentions may have been good, but he never delivered. What he said next impacted me and has stuck with me to this day; he said, ‘What I am trying to illustrate is that Christianity is about action, it is about making good on what you promise… Faith must have feet.’
Often when someone is addicted to alcohol or drugs, they tell people that they cannot stop drinking or using drugs. The bottom line is that they actually can; they don’t want to. Yes, that is a harsh thing to say, but it is the truth. If we have an addiction problem, we can stop by the Grace of God. We must say, “Today, I am stopping this filthy habit, and I am never going to do it again.” If you don’t stop, drugs or alcohol will kill you. The same goes if we are involved in pornography or some other form of immorality, we must say, “Today, I am stopping this filthy habit, and I am never going to do it again.” May I point out that many Christian leaders worldwide have fallen into adultery and immorality through disobedience?
Friends, don’t just tell people that you love them; show them. Don’t just tell Jesus that you are committed to Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and then disobey Him. Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:22-23 that He is not interested only in what we say and do but also in how we live for Him. Would you Pray with me?
Dear Heavenly Father, as I bow in Your presence today, I pray that You would shine Your light into the innermost parts of my heart. Father, I ask that You reveal my sins to me to repent before You. Father, thank You for Your Grace and forgiveness. Please help me grow and go forward in obedience, demonstrating my love for You by doing Your Will. For it is in Your Precious Name that I ask. Amen

God Bless and have a Blessed Day, Friends <><
