For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. (1 John 5:4) ESV
This months’ Devotional Thoughts are concentrated on the attributes of living a faith-filled life. In todays’ Devotional Thought will address the question: How can we overcome the world?
If we are walking by faith, then we will overcome the world. We don’t have to be afraid of anybody or anything. We already have the victory. How do you receive this faith that I am talking about? By spending time with the Lord daily.
People have asked me how I write so many Thought posts and where I get all my words? My answer to them is simple. I spend time with the Lord daily. I get up early in the morning, get a coffee, turn on some light background music and begin reading and praying to the Lord, closing myself off to the world. After praying, I read my Scripture reading for the day, and sometimes as I am read Scripture, the Lord brings to mind an experience I have had that pertains to the Scripture I am reading; other times, He simply gives me the message to write. I do not write fancy messages; I wait on the Lord. The Lord tells me what He wants me to say to His people. He gives me the message I am to share. It is such a privilege to be a messenger for the Lord of lords and King of kings.
It is not faith in faith that will overcome the world, but faith in Jesus Christ. He is the Savoir of the world. The older I grow, the deeper I fall in love with Him. He is a Friend Who is closer than a brother. The bigger the waves, the fiercer the storms – the closer He is to me. The more I get to know Him, the greater my faith becomes. It is our faith that will enable us to overcome the world.
It doesn’t matter what our problems or needs are today; they may well be enormous. No matter what we are going through, we can know that Jesus is with us. He doesn’t change (Hebrews 13:8) tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Put out faith in Him. Do not trust governments, the economy, your business, your job, or any person. We are only safe if our faith is in Jesus Christ. It is by faith that we will overcome the world.
Friends, do not put your faith in anyone or anything; you are only safe if your faith is in Jesus Christ. Would you Pray with me?
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus Christ, my Lord, and Savior. Jesus, thank You that You have promised me that You will never leave me or forsake me. As I walk in faith in You, I will overcome the world. Amen.
