It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:26-28) ESV.

In todays’ Devotional Thought, we will look at a servant's heart. I will first say that the most excellent service ever performed was by Jesus when He came to this earth to suffer and die for our sins; he did not withhold anything of Himself – He poured His Life out to ransom you and to ransom me. Jesus is our most excellent example of servanthood!

Jesus was indeed a Servant Leader in every sense of the word. His Leadership style was radically opposed to so much of what we see around us today. Many people believe that a leadership position entitles them to dominate and lord it over others. We see leaders extorting their followers; we witness leaders perpetuating awful crimes, seemingly believing that they have immunity against retribution.

This is different from what Spiritual Leadership is about. The sad thing is that we often see Christian leaders behaving as world leaders do. This breaks Jesus’ heart because He came to model what authentic leadership should look and act like. Whatever the leadership role you fill, please stop and examine your heart, motives, and actions today. In my Devotional Thought yesterday, I mentioned that it is out of the heart that both good and evil originate. It stands to reason, then, that the state of our heart will determine the quality of our leadership.

Lastly, a servant leader serves those God has entrusted to him. God calls us to be faithful in every aspect of our lives. He is not interested in the size and scope of our leadership. No, He is only interested in the quality of our leadership. Friends, God is interested in whether we are servant leaders or not; whether we have a servant’s heart beating in our chest. Would you join me in praying?

Dear Heavenly Father, I bow in Your presence. Thank You, Jesus, for the beautiful example You are to me of Servant Leadership. You are so wonderful. I long to be like You. Would you please help me be the same kind of leader you are? In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

## Encouraging Words: The more we manifest a servant's heart in all we do, the more impact we will have on peoples’ lives.

God Bless you, Friends, and have a Blessed Day <><
