If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) ESV.

We are saved and redeemed to live godly lives. We all know that life happens, and we fall. Our sins can haunt us with guilt making it impossible for God to use us.

If you are someone who is not able to live an abundant Christian life because you are mired in guilt, please re-read today’s Scripture verse, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The sins that haunt us fall into three categories: The sins we committed before coming to salvation. Those we commit after coming to know Jesus, and although we have repented and asked for forgiveness, they still haunt us. Then there are the sins that we are currently committing.

Now we cannot categorize sin. In God’s eyes, sin is sin. However, there are the sins we commit daily such as snapping at our family or becoming angry because we stole our parking space – you know what I am talking about – the list is endless. We should keep short accounts of these sins. Generally, they are not the ones that keep us mired in guilt.  I want to address the sins that have had a life-changing effect on our lives or the lives of someone else. These are the ones that eat at us, they keep us awake at night, and they prevent us from being valuable to God.

If it happened before you came to Jesus, IT IS UNDER THE BLOOD. God has forgotten about it – so who are we to keep remembering it? If it happened after we came to salvation and we have repented and asked forgiveness, move on and don’t do it again. If we are still involved in sin – STOP! God’s Grace is there for us, but we must stop what we are doing. Friends, come to God, repent, ask His forgiveness, and then don’t do it again. Would you join me in praying today?

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You so grateful for Your Grace and forgiveness. Please forgive me for the things I have done that separate me from You. I acknowledge them today. I lay them at the foot of the Cross. Cleanse me and fill me, I pray. Amen.

## Encouraging Words from R.C. Sproul: We should never be surprised when God keeps His word to forgive those who confess their sins.
