Now Playing Counting My Blessing Seph Schleuter

August 25, 2022

And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets —  who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. (Hebrews 11:32-34) ESV.

May I ask this question? How are you doing when it comes to having faith in God? You might say, “Randall, I believe in God, in Jesus Christ, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.” I would answer, “That’s great; I am glad you do.” However, what I am really asking you, is, do you have faith? I have spent the last twenty days of Devotional Thoughts looking at Elijah’s life as a mighty man of faith. I hope that you have been encouraged by Elijah, as I have. His faith inspires me. But, I am also encouraged by his humanity.

It is wonderful that God gives us a glimpse of the humaneness of our Biblical heroes. Even though Elijah did valiant exploits for God, he still had his moments of frailty and failure. The other wonderful thing is and is such a blessing to me; God didn’t desert Elijah in his moments of weakness. No, God was there, bringing him back in line with His Will again. If we are weary and heavy-laden, we can take courage. God is still on His Throne. He hasn’t gone anywhere. He is watching over us and loving us through our difficulties.

Friends, if we are facing what seems to be insurmountable problems at the moment, then take heart; we serve a God for whom nothing is impossible. Spend time in His Word; it is filled with accounts of God doing what is humanly impossible. Seek His Face, and when He speaks to us, we need to obey Him. So often, our problem is that we want God to say what we want to hear. It doesn’t work like that. Either we obey God, or we don’t. His is the still small Voice calling us. Would you pray with me?

Dear Heavenly Father, I bow in Your presence. You have spoken directly to my heart today. I lay my burdens at the foot of the Cross, and, Lord, I choose not to pick them up again. I am listening to You and ready to obey You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God Bless you, and may your day be Blessed, Friends <><

Encouraging Words from (Hebrews 11:1-3) ESV: Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible <><
